Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford, an American actor and singer. Some of her early Broadway shows include Wicked Legally Blonde Hair. The role she played in You Can't Take It With You as Essie Carmahiel was rewarded with the Tony Award in Best Featured Female Actress in the Play. Annaleigh is a Tony Award winning actress and director has spent most of her professional career working with famous directors and actors both on stage and screen. Ashford next will star opposite Kumail in Robert Siegel's exclusive Hulu series Welcome to Chippendales which premieres the 22nd of November. Ashford is working on Searchlight Pictures' horror film Dust with Sarah Paulson alongside Ebon and Moss Bachrach. The film will be available through Disney's DTC platforms and will be available as a Hulu Original. Ashford is set to return in 2023, and will play opposite Josh Groban at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre to perform the revival of Stephensondheim's Sweeney Todd. The team behind Hamilton producers Jeffrey Seller and director Thomas Kail is at the helm of the show. Ashford appeared as Paula Jones most recently in Ryan Murphy's FX's American Crime Story Impeachment, based off the scandal which was involving Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky Linda Tripp in the national security crisis. Her two-season stint on the CBS show B Positive was her first big role. It was co-produced by Chuck Lorre with Marco Pennette. It featured Linda Lavin Sheryl Crow, Hector Elizondo and Ben Vereen. Ashford is no stranger to Broadway. The role she played as Essie in You Can't Take It with You earned her Tony Drama Desk Awards and Outer Critics Circle Awards. Other Broadway credits for Ashford are Sunday in the Park, in which she starred with George Wicked legally Blonde, and her role as Lauren as Lauren in Kinky Boots. For this performance, she was awarded a Tony Award nomination. Ashford lives in Los Angeles & New York. Her birthplace was in Denver & raised there.
